A sufficient condition is given for the range of an arithmetic expression over an interval to be equal to the result of evaluation of the expression in interval arithmetic (``non-overestimation''). The condition is given in terms of nonnegativity (nonpositivity) of partial derivatives of the corresponding expansion of the expression. As consequences, sufficient conditions for non-overestimation for polynomials in factorized or Horner form are given. The results say that non-overestimation occurs if the interval is ``sufficiently far'' from 0.
