Late Yakov Zalmanovich Tsypkin (\(\dag\) Dec. 2, 1997), founder of the Russian school of the Theory of Impulse Systems (Moscow, 1958, 724 pp.), was concerned with these systems again. The problem was the structure synthesis of a set of controllers that stabilize a specified linear dynamical plant. It is shown that the structure is based on the Kučera-Youla parametrization of polynomial models, the principle of absorption and on internal models. The stabilizing invariant controller contains two internal models: the explicit model of the dynamical plant and the implicit model which is connected with a model of external disturbances.
