Let \(F\) be an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(p>0\), let \(G\) be a finite group, and let \(B\) be a wild block of the group algebra \(FG\). The author shows that all simple \(B\)-modules lie at the end of their connected components in the stable Auslander-Reiten quiver of \(B\), provided \(G\) is \(p\)-solvable or \(O_p(G)\neq 1\). These results are derived from a more general theorem on connected components of tree class \(A_\infty\) in the stable Auslander-Reiten quiver of a symmetric algebra containing a simple module not lying at the end.
