The author studies a generalization of the viability property (used for differential inclusions) to the case of propagation of sets. It has been shown by Aubin that some evolution of sets can be characterized by an analogue of differential equations for evolution of points: this are the mutational equations. The trajectory of such a mutational equation is a tube. The main problem in the present paper is to study constraints for mutational equations. Namely, if the initial condition \(K(0)\) of a tube is included in some given set \(M\), is \(K(t)\subset M\) for every \(t\geq 0\)? This property is called strong operability property. The author calls (weak) operability property \[ K(0)\cap M\neq\emptyset\Rightarrow K(t)\cap M\neq\emptyset\;\forall t\geq 0. \] (Here \(K(0)\) is a solution to a given in advance mutational equation.) The main result of this work is to characterize the existence of a solution to a mutational equation, which satisfies the operability (in weak or strong sense) by (weak or strong) geometrical condition. This generalizes the invariance theorem and the viability theorem for differential inclusions. Moreover, the author investigates also systems of differential equations and mutational equations and provides a similar geometrical characterization.
