The author considers self-similar functions as follows. \(F:\mathbb{R}^m\to\mathbb{R}\) with compact support \(\overline\Omega\), where \(\Omega\) is an open (bounded) set in \(\mathbb{R}^m\), is said to be self-similar of order \(k>0\) provided that \begin{itemize} \item there are \(d\) contractions \(S_i\) on \(\Omega\) with ratios \(\mu_i\) such that \(S_i(\Omega)\subset\Omega\) and \(S_i(\Omega)\cap S_j(\Omega)= \emptyset\) for \(i\neq j\); \item there is a function \(g\) which is rapid decreasing together within all its derivatives up to order \(k\) such that \(F(x)=\sum^d_{i= 1} \lambda_iF(S^{-1}_i(x))+ g(x)\), where \(\lambda_i\in\mathbb{R}\); \item \(F\) is not uniformly \(C^k\) on closed subsets \(D\) within \(\Omega\). \end{itemize} He proves the existence of such functions \(F\) given \(g\), \(\lambda_i\) and \(S_i\) and examines the multifractal properties of these functions \(F\). The main result is that the multifractal formalism holds in this setting.
