The authors construct an example for an ideal of a finitely presented semigroup which is finitely generated as a semigroup but not finitely presented. Then they prove that in a free product of finitely many finite semigroups, every right ideal which is finitely generated as a semigroup is finitely presented. The proofs use refinements of a method developed by the same authors [in Semigroup Forum 51, No. 1, 47-62 (1995; Zbl 0833.20069)].
