A method of a priori estimates based on the Leray-Schauder topological degree theory is developed to establish the existence of solutions to boundary problems for differential equations with ``maxima'' of the type \[ x'=f(t,x(t), \max_{\tau \in S(t)}x(\tau)), \quad t\in [a,b], \qquad x(t)=0, \quad t\not\in [a,b], \quad \phi (x)=0, \] where \(x:[a,b]\to \mathbb{R}^n\) is an unknown vector function, \(S(t)\in \mathbb{R}\), \(\max_{\tau \in S(t)}x(\tau)\) stands for the vector with the components \(\max_{\tau \in S(t)}x_i(\tau), i=1,\dots ,n\), \(\phi \) is some vector functional over a space of vector functions on \([a,b]\).
