The author studies existence and uniqueness of solutions of the Cauchy problem for the abstract semilinear parabolic equation \(u'(t)=Au(t)+F(u(t))\) in a Banach space \(X\), where \(A\) is a generator of a bounded analytic semigroup, which is not necessarily continuous at zero. The function \(F\) is supposed to be locally Lipschitz continuous with respect to certain intermediate spaces between \(D(A)\) and \(X\). The main result of the paper extends results from \textit{W. von Wahl} [Delft Prog. Rep. 10, 291-310 (1985; Zbl 0676.35039)] and \textit{A. Lunardi} [Analytic semigroups and optimal regularity in parabolic problems (Basel, Birkhäuser) (1995; Zbl 0816.35001)]. The application to the Cahn-Hilliard equation with Dirichlet boundary conditions is discussed.
