The author establishes the existence of a travelling wave connecting two stable equilibria for the reaction-diffusion system \[ \partial_t u_1= \partial_x^2 u_1+ u_1 g(u),\quad \partial_t u_2= \varepsilon^2 \partial_x^2 u_2+ u_2 g(u),\quad \partial_t u_3= \varepsilon^2 \partial_x^2 u_3+ u_3 g(u) \] (\(u=(u_1,u_2,u_3)\)) assuming that the nonlinearities have the Lotka-Volterra form \(g_i=1-\sum_{j=1}^3 g_{i,j}u_j\) with \(g_{i,j}\leq 0\), \(g_{i,i}=1\). He applies perturbation arguments and the so-called connection index, a version of the Conley index, to the transformed equations (moving frame) after appropriately scaling them. He derives a priori estimates which show that the heteroclinic solution inducing the travelling wave (for \(\varepsilon>0\)) is uniformly close to the singular limit solution as \(\varepsilon\to 0\).
