The main result of this paper asserts that any simply connected and globally hyperbolic Lorentzian surface is geodesically connected. However, it should be remarked that this claim is in contradiction with a counterexample given in Remark 1.3 of a paper by \textit{V. Benci}, \textit{D. Fortunato} and \textit{A. Masiello} [Math. Z. 217, 73-93 (1994; Zbl 0807.53054)], in which the geodesic connectedness is proved under an additional assumption on the growth at infinity.
