Let \(I=[0,1]\) and let \(C(I)\) be the Banach pace of all real valued continuous functions on \(I\). Let \(X\) be a normed space and let \(T\in L(X)\), where \(L(X)\) is the set of all bounded linear operators on \(X\). Let \(S\subset X\). Then \(T\) is called a BKW-operator for the test functions \(S\) if for every net \(\{T_\lambda\}_\lambda\) in \(L(X)\) satisfying the following condition \(\lim_\lambda \| T_\lambda \|=\| T\|\) and \(\lim_\lambda \| T_\lambda s-Ts \|=0\) for \(s\in S\), it follows that \(\{T_\lambda\}_\lambda\) converges strongly to \(T\). The authors denote by \(\text{BKW} (X;S)\) the set of BKW-operators for \(S\). Let \(S_n= \{1,t, \dots, t^n\}\). The aim of this paper is the following theorem. Let \(T\in L(C(I)) \) with \(\| T\|=1\). Then \(T\in\text{BKW} (C(I);S_n)\) if and only if \(T\) has the form \((Tf) (t)= \sum^{j=n}_{j=0} a_j(t) f(x_j(t))\), \(t\in I\), where (i) \(\sum^{j=n}_{j=0} | a_j(t) | =1\), (ii) \(\sum^{j=n}_{j=0} a_j(t) \delta_{x_j} (t)\) is continuous in \(M_1(I)\) with respect to the \(\text{weak}^*\)-topology, where \(M_1(I): =\{\mu\in M(I): \|\mu \|\leq 1\}\) and \(M(I)\) is the Banach space of bounded real Borel measures on \(I\) with the total variation norm, (iii) for each \(t\in I\) there exists a non-constant function \(f_t\in\widetilde S_n\) such that \(\| f_t\|_\infty =1\) and \(\sum^{j=n}_{j=0} a_j(t) f_t(x_j(t))=1\), where \(\widetilde S_n\) is the closed linear span of \(S_n\) in \(C(I)\).
