    Let \(G\) be a simple algebraic group over an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(0\) and \(P\) be its parabolic subgroup. The author studies the maximal number of parameters, called modality of \(P\), on which a family of \(P\)-orbits in its unipotent radical depends upon. It is proved that there is a quadratic polynomial \(f\) with rational coefficients such that the modality of \(P\) is at least \(f(r-s)\) where \(r\) and \(s\) are the semisimple rank of \(G\) and \(P\), respectively. Using these bounds, the author computes the modality of Borel subgroups in some small rank cases.
