Let \(\ell\) be an odd prime number. For a prime number \(p\) congruent to \(1 \bmod \ell\), let \(k _p\) denote the unique subfield of \({{\mathbb Q}} \left(\zeta _p \right)\) of degree \(\ell\) over \({\mathbb Q}\), where \(\zeta _p\) is a primitive \(p\)th root of unity. Let \(p\) and \(q\) be different prime numbers congruent to \(1 \bmod \ell\) and let \(K = k _p k _q\). In this paper the author finds conditions under which the Iwasawa invariants \(\lambda _k,\;\mu _k\) are \(0\) for any subfield \(k\) of \(K\) of degree \(\ell\) over \({\mathbb Q}\), different from \(k _p\) and \(k _q\). The condition obtained here is weaker than the condition given by \textit{G. Yamamoto} [Proc. Japan Acad., Ser. A 73, No. 3, 45-47 (1997; Zbl 0879.11061)]. The proof uses the capitulation of the \(\ell\)-part of the ideal class group of \(k\) in the initial layer of the cyclotomic \({\mathbb Z} _{\ell}\)-extension of \(k\) and it is based on \textit{R. Greenberg}'s original idea [Am. J. Math. 98, 263-284 (1976; Zbl 0334.12013)].
