The authors discuss the Feigenbaum universality problem based on a one-dimensional dynamical system. They start with the equation \(x_{n+1} =F(x_n) =1-x^2_n\). In the interval \([-1,1]\), \(x_0= 0.62\) is the fixed point, that is, any \(x_n\) is equal to 0.62. For \(x_0=-1\), or 0, or 1, the series for \(x_n\) is \(0,1,0, 1, \dots,\) which the authors call the periodic series of period 2. For any other initial value the series converges to the series of period 2. Then they generalize the function \(F(x_n)\) which provides similar series as the above and discuss such properties.
