Following \textit{M. Gromov} [Invent. Math. 82, 307-347 (1985; Zbl 0592.53025)], the author studies the symplectic manifold \(M_\lambda =(S^2 \times S^2, \omega_\lambda =(1+ \lambda) \sigma_0 \oplus \sigma_0)\), where \(0\leq \lambda\in \mathbb{R}\) and \(\sigma_0\) ist the standard area form on \(S^2\). Mainly he gives a detailed description of the group \(G_\lambda\) of symplectomorphisms of \(M_\lambda\), which acts as the identity on \(H_2 (S^2 \times S^2, \mathbb{Z})\). Comparing to \(G_0\) which is homotopy equivalent to its subgroup \(SO (3) \times SO(3)\), the author proves that for \(0< \lambda\leq 1\), the cohomology group \(H^* (G_\lambda/SO(3) \times SO(3)\); \(\mathbb{R}) \cong \mathbb{R}\), for \(*=4k\), \(4k+1\), \(k\geq 0\), or zero otherwise. He also proves that \(H^* (G_\lambda/SO(3) \times SO(3)\); \(\mathbb{R})\) is isomorphic (as an algebra) to the tensor product of an exterior algebra with one generator of degree 1 and a polynomial algebra with one generator of degree four.
