This paper considers generalizations of Birkhoff fixed point theorem to higher dimensions. To this end, the authors study Hamiltonian systems with \(n\) degrees of freedom of the form \({\dot {\widehat x}} = {\partial H\over \partial {\widehat y}}\), \({\dot {\widehat y}} = -{\partial H\over \partial {\widehat x}}\), \({\dot u} = {\partial H\over \partial v}\), \({\dot v} =-{\partial H\over \partial u}\), where \(H(\widehat x, \widehat y,u,v) = N(\widehat y,u,v)+ P(\widehat x, \widehat y,u,v)\) is a real analytical function of its arguments, \({\widehat x} \in T^{n-m}\), \({\widehat y} \in D_1 \subset R^{n-m}\), \(u,v \in D_2 \subset R^{2m}\), \(D_1\) and \(D_2\) are closed bounded domains, and \((0,0)\) is an inner point of \(D_2\). If the perturbation \(P=0\), the unperturbed system has a family of \((n-m)\)-dimensional elliptic tori. When \( P \not= 0\), the existence of elliptic \((n-m)\)-dimensional tori has already been shown. In this paper, under some assumptions, the authors prove the existence of at least one hyperbolic \((n-m)\)-dimensional torus surrounding the original elliptic \((n-m)\)-dimensional torus when \(P \not= 0\) and is sufficiently small.
