Let \(S\) be a foundation semigroup, that is a locally compact topological semigroup which carries a suitable analogue of the group algebra \(L^1(G)\) of a locally compact group. Suppose that \(S\) has an identity, a continuous involution and a weight function \(w\). This paper solves a problem left over from a previous paper by the same author [Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 111, 325-330 (1992; Zbl 0754.43003)]. It is shown that pointwise convergence of \(\omega\)-bounded positive definite functions continuous at the identity implies uniform convergence. As a lemma it is first shown that the positive definite functions must be continuous at all points of \(S\).
