The authors develop a suitable numerical algorithm for solving the full resistive and viscous magneto-hydrodynamic equations in cylindrical geometry. A semi-implicit scheme is applied to the momentum equation while the resistive and diffusive terms are advanced implicitly. As an example, this numerical method is used to describe properties of linear and nonlinear evolution of kink instability in a twisted flux tube. The obtained results are discussed in terms of applications to solar magnetic fields and solar coronal heating mechanisms.
