Let \(E, E_1\) be Banach spaces, \(K(E_1)\) denote the collection of all nonempty compact subsets of \(E_1\),\ \(U\) a bounded open domain in \(E\) and \(f : \overline U \rightarrow E_1\) a proper continuous map such that its restriction \(f|_U\) is a nonlinear \(C^1\)-Fredholm map of index zero. It is supposed also that the multimap \(F: \overline U \rightarrow K(E_1)\) is upper semicontinuous, compact and generalized acyclic, i.e. there exist continuous maps \(p: X \rightarrow \overline U\) and \(q: X \rightarrow E_1\) from a space \(X\) such that :\ (i) \(p\) is surjective and the set \(p^{-1}(x)\) is acyclic for every \(x \in \overline U\); (ii) \(q\circ p^{-1}(x) \subseteq F(x)\) for every \(x \in \overline U\). Under the assumption that \(f(x) \notin F(x)\) for all \(x \in \partial U\) the authors present the construction of the topological degree \(\text{Deg}_{\theta}(f - F,\overline U)\), describe its main properties and mention its applications to the existence of coincidence points of \(f\) and \(F\).
