This paper is concerned with the uniform approximation of functions by de la Vallée Poussin sums on closed sets in \(\mathbb{C}\). It consists mainly in one new result, which can be sketched as follows: Let \(F\) denote a closed bounded set in \(\mathbb{C}\) such that the complement of \(F\) contains the unit disk and the point \(z=\infty\). Furthermore, consider a power series \(\sum^\infty_{n= 0}\alpha_nz^n\) with \(\nu\)th partial sum \(R_\nu(z)\), and a nonnegative lower triangular infinite matrix \(A= ((\alpha_{n\nu}))\) with \[ \lim_{n\to\infty} \sum^n_{\nu=0} \alpha_{n\nu}= 1\quad\text{and} \quad \lim_{n\to\infty} \alpha_{n\nu}= 0. \] Then for any function \(f\in\mathbb{C}_A(F)\) there exists a sequence of integers \(\{n_k\}\) such that the sequence of polynomials \[ s_{n_k}(z)= \sum^k_{i= 0} \alpha_{n_k,n_i} S_{n_i}(z),\quad k\in\mathbb{N}, \] converges on \(F\) uniformly to \(f\), where \[ S_{n_i}(z)= {1\over n_i} \sum^{n_i}_{m= 1}{1\over m} \sum^{n_i- 1}_{\nu= n_i- m} R_\nu(z). \] {}.
