The authors consider the nonuniqueness of numerical solutions obtained for some flow regimes in gas dynamics. The nonuniqueness manifests itself as broken symmetries in computations of physically symmetric problems based on completely symmetric numerical algorithms, and is exposed by using different initial conditions in computing the same problem, which may lead to hysteresis in solutions obtained in serial computations.
