Coarse-grid approximations of the radiation transport equation: Problems with weak absorption. (Q1395271)

Here, the singular perturbation theory for critical cases is used to construct and analyze coarse-grid approximations for the transport equation in optically thick media with weak absorption. The well-known conservative schemes are considered as the initial ones. Theoretical estimates on the accuracy of this approximation are established that are in good agreement with numerical results.
