Let \(D\) be a torsion-free affine connection on a manifold \(M_n\) endowed with a conformal structure \([g]\). A triplet \(W= (M_n,[g],D)\) is called a Weyl manifold if \(D= \omega\otimes g\) for a 1-form \(\omega\). The Weyl manifold \(W\) \((n\geq 3)\) is said to be Einstein-Weyl (EW) if the symmetrized Ricci tensor of \(D\) is proportional to a representative matrix \(g\) in \([g]\). The author studies the Weyl normal connections of Weyl submanifolds, and the relation between the curvatures of the Weyl normal convection and the normal connection. If the Weyl normal connection is flat, then the induced 1-form \(\omega\) is closed and the normal connection is flat. In codimension one, the Weyl normal connection is flat if and only if the induced 1-form \(\omega\) is closed. Let \(W\) be a Weyl submanifold of a Weyl manifold \((\overline M_m,[\overline g],\overline D)=\overline W\) and \(S^{\overline D}\) the scalar curvature of \(\overline D\) with respect to \(\overline g\). Theorem 1. Let \(W\) be a submanifold of a Weyl manifold \(\overline W\) with vanishing Weyl conformal curvature. Then the Weyl normal connection \(D^N\) is flat if and only if the induced 1-form \(\omega\) is closed and all of the Weyl second fundamental forms \(A^\beta_\xi\) are simultaneously diagonalizable. Theorem 2. Let \(\overline W\) be an EW manifold with vanishing Weyl conformal curvature, and let \(W\) be a compact Weyl submanifold of \(\overline W\) with flat Weyl normal connection \((m> n\geq 2)\). Suppose that the induced 1-form \(\omega\) of \(g\) is not exact. Then we have: 1. If \(S^{\overline D}> 0\) on \(M_n\), then \(W\) is not Weyl totally umibilical; 2. If \(S^{\overline D}\equiv 0\) on \(M_n\) and \(W\) is Weyl totally umbilical, then \(W\) is Weyl totally geodesic and Weyl flat. Some interesting examples are associated to Sasakian manifolds and \(S^1\times S^n\).
