Let \(k\) be a complete field with nontrivial discrete valuation whose residue field is perfect. Let \(G\) be the group of \(k\)-rational points of a reductive connected linear algebraic group defined over \(k\), and let \(\mathcal B (G)\) denote the Bruhat-Tits building of \(G\). Basic tools of harmonic analysis on \(G\) include invariant distributions and the Fourier transform. In this paper the author describes the support of invariant distributions by studying a relationship between the structure of \(G\) and the geometry associated to the displacement function on \(\mathcal B (G)\). He also investigates the interplay among representations of \(G\), their depth, and functions on \(G\).
