Let \(S_1\), \(S_2\) be two smooth complex projective surfaces and let \(\pi_i:S_i \to\mathbb{P}^2\) be generic projections having the same branch curve \(B\). Here generic means that the fiber above a smooth point of \(B\) has cardinality just one less than the degree of the projection. This article is devoted to proving (see Theorem 1.7) the analytic equivalence of \((S_1, \pi_1)\) and \((S_2,\pi_2)\) (for projections of degree bounded below by a constant formulated explicitly using the degree of \(B\), the genus of \(B\) and the singularities of \(B)\) under the assumption that the ramification loci of the projections are smooth and the singularities of \(B\) are only of \(x^m=y^n\) type. The authors then construct examples to demonstrate the necessity of their assumed smoothness of the ramification loci.
