The author gives a strict function-theoretic proof of the Bogolyubov-Krylov method for the solution of second kind operator equations in normed spaces. The general theory of approximate methods of L.~V.~Kantorovich and approximation by splines of minimal degrees is essentially used. The received general results are applied to various classes of regular and singular integral equations.
