\textit{S. S. Chern} [Ann. Pol. Math. 39, 63--69 (1981; Zbl 0497.53056)] obtained the geometric interpretation of the Klein-Gordon equation in the Galilean space. He proved also that the angle between asymptotic curves of a space-like (time-like) surface of constant negative (positive, respectively) curvature in a pseudo-Riemannian space of constant curvature satisfies the Sine-Gordon equation \(u_{tt}-u_{xx}=\sin u\) (respectively, the Sinh-Gordon equation \(u_{tt}-u_{xx}= \sinh u).\) A semi-Riemannian space such that the metric tensor \(g_{ij} (i,j =1, \dots n; g_{ij}=g_{ji})\) has rank \(m<n,\) and in the null \((m-n)\)-plane \(g_{ij}x^j=0\) another non-degenerated metric tensor is given, is called a quasi-Riemannian space. In the present paper, quasipseudo-Riemannian spaces (quasi-Riemannian spaces whose metric tensors \(g_{ij}\) are not positive definite) of constant curvature are investigated. The main result is: Let \(\Sigma \) be a space-like (time-like) surface of negative (positive) constant Gaussian curvature in three dimensional quasipseudo-Riemannian space of constant curvature. Suppose that \(\Sigma \) is in general position. Then 1) on \(\Sigma \) there exists a family of plane curves, whose radius of curvature satisfies the Klein-Gordon equation \[ u_{tt}-u_{xx}=M^2u (u=u(t,x),\;M=\text{const.)}\leqno (1) \] 2) the aymptotic curves of \(\Sigma \) are real, they do not coincide and the angle between them satisfies equation (1). 3) in (1) \(M=0\) if and only if the Gaussian curvature is \(-K\), where \(K\) is the curvature of the space and \(K\not = 0.\) The projective interpretation of the quasipseudo-Riemannian spaces of constant curvature is given.
