Let \(f(n)\) denote a prime independent multiplicative function. The local density \(d_k\) of this function is defined by the limit of \(F_k(x, y)/y\), where \[ F_k(x, y)= \sum_{\substack{ x< n\leq x+y\\ f(n)= k}} 1,\quad y= y(x), \] as \(x\) tends to infinity whenever the limit exists. In the case \(f(n)= a(n)\), the number of finite Abelian groups of order \(n\), let \(F_k(x, y)= A_k(x, y)\). Here \textit{A. Ivić} [Math. Nachr. 101, 257--271 (1981; Zbl 0484.10028)] and \textit{E. Krätzel} [ibid. 98, 135--144 (1980; Zbl 0459.10030) and Lattice points. Dordrecht: Kluwer (1988; Zbl 0675.10031)] proved estimates for \(y\) in \[ A_k(x,y)= d_k y+ o(y). \] The author considers the general case \(F_k(x,y)\). Let \(y= \Phi(x)\) be a monotonically increasing function such that \(\Phi(x)/x\) is monotonically decreasing, \(\log^5 x= o(\Phi(x))\) and \(\Phi(x)= o(x^{3/4})\). It is proved that then \(d_k\) exists such that \[ F_k(x,y)= d_k y+ o(y) \] holds for almost all \(x\). Further, a short interval result is proved on the summatory function of \(a(n)\) and on the enumeration of a certain type of finite solvable groups.
