This paper deals with the \(2\pi_p\)-periodic boundary value problem associated to a strongly nonlinear second-order equation of the form \[ (\phi_p(u'))'+\alpha \phi_p(u^+)-\beta \phi_p(u^-)=f(x,t), \] where \(\phi_p\) is the one-dimensional \(p\)-laplacian. The author examines the resonant situation when \(\alpha^{-1/p}+\beta^{-1/p}= 2/n,\) for some positive integer \(n\). It is assumed that \(f\) is bounded and that, as \(x \to \pm \infty\), it has a uniform limit \(H(t)\). As it is typical for this kind of problems, it is crucial to consider the solution \((S(t),C(t))\) of the planar system associated to the unforced problem such that \((S(0),C(0))=(0,1)\) and the function \(\Phi(\theta)=\int_0^{2\pi_p} S((\pi_p \theta)/\pi)+\tau) \, H(\tau)\, d\tau, \; \theta \in [0.2\pi/n)\). It is then assumed that the function \(\Phi\) has only simple zeros. A first result provides a sufficient condition for the existence of at least one solution; other results deal with problems with a small damping and with small perturbations of the Fučik spectrum. For the proof of the first result, it shown that the Brouwer degree of the Poincaré mapping associated to the problem is equal to \(1-k\), where \(2k\) is the number of zeros of \(\Phi\) in \([0, 2\pi/n)\). The other results are proved by direct estimates on the Poincaré mapping and by the Miranda theorem, respectively. The author does not quote in the bibliography the paper by \textit{C. Fabry} and \textit{R. Manásevich} [Discrete Contin. Dyn. Syst. 7, No. 3, 545--557 (2001; Zbl 0998.34035)], where results very close to those given in this paper are presented. See also (for the case \(p=2\)) the paper by \textit{C. Fabry} and \textit{J. Mawhin} [Nonlinearity 13, No. 3, 493--505 (2000; Zbl 0956.34028)].
