This paper concerns a stationary one-phase Stefan problem with source at the free boundary modelling the electrolysis of aluminium in the plane, whose prototype was introduced in \textit{A. Bermúdez}, \textit{M. C. Muñiz} and \textit{P. Quintela} [Ann. Inst. Henri Poincaré, Anal. Non Linéaire, 15, No. 4, 399--430 (1998; Zbl 0909.35153)]. The problem is to find the temperature and the characteristic function of the liquid set. The authors introduce the strong and weak formulations of the problem, and they prove existence and uniqueness of the solution and the continuity of the free boundary.
