    A numerical approximation for stationary compressible Navier-Stokes problem is considered for isothermal flows in two- or three-dimensional domains. The authors analyze an iterative scheme that relies upon the solution of subproblems of Stokes type for the velocity and transport equations for the density. The better convergence behaviour results from replacing Stokes linearization by Oseen or Newton linearization. For sufficiently small external forces, the authors prove existence, uniqueness, derive a priori estimates as well as establish the convergence of numerical solutions in Sobolev norms that are natural for the problem.
