In this paper, the author studies the following two problems for a compact Riemannian manifold \(M\) with boundary \(\partial M\). (1) Uniqueness problem: Let \([g]\) be the conformal class of the metric \(g\) of \(M\), with \(R_g\) and \(h_g\) its scalar curvature and the mean curvature of the boundary \(\partial M\) respectively. Given \(\bar{g} \in [g]\) with \(R_{\bar{g}} = R_g\) in \(M\) and \(h_{\bar{g}} = h_g\) on \(\partial M\), when is \(\bar{g} = g\)? (2) Non-uniqueness problem: Does there exist a metric \(\bar{g} < g\) with the same scalar curvature and mean curvature? The author proves that, under certain geometric conditions, the above questions have positive answer.
