In this note the author presents a short elementary proof of the following theorem: If \(A\) and \(B\) are two points on a line \(d\), and \(\mu\), \(\nu\) are two equidistant lines, such that the distance from \(\mu\) to \(d\) is greater than that from \(\nu\) to \(d\), then among all triangles \(ABC\), with \(C\) a variable point on \(\mu\), the one for which the intersection of \(ABC\) with \(\nu\) is maximal is isosceles. This theorem had received a significantly more elaborate proof in \textit{L. Karp} and \textit{N. Peyerimhoff} [Arch. Math. 79, 223-231 (2002; Zbl 1034.52013)]. In a rather cryptic endnote the author mentions that this answers a question raised by \textit{J. Schneider} [Über die Symmetrisierung kompakter Mengen im hyperbolischen Raum. Diss. Universität Stuttgart (1986; Zbl 0586.52007)].
