``Das ist ein schönes Thema, ich beneide Sie um das Thema.'' These words has addressed Landau in Göttingen 1909 to the young D. Jackson for his choice of subject for thesis. The Professor has been in the right. Jackson's studies for thesis conduced him to publish in the same year 1911 as the ``Dissertation'' the proof for a conjecture of Fejér regarding the positivity of sine sums \(\sum^n_{k=1} (\sin(kx))/k\), \(0< x< \pi\), \(n= 1,2,\dots\), signing in this way the birth certificate of the famous Fejér-Jackson inequality, which has generated an abundance of new proofs and refinements, generalizations and related theorems. The present paper does enrich the literature about this inequality. As the authors say in the introduction, they ``complement, extend, and refine some known inequalities for certain sine sums, which are closely related to the Fejér-Jackson inequality''. In 1952 \textit{P. Turán} [Ann. Soc. Polon. Math. 25, 155--161 (1952; Zbl 0048.30404)] replaced the lower bound \(0\) for sine sums of Fejér by a positive expression. The main result of the authors in the present paper is to establish an improvement of that Turán's result by replacing in the expression of the lower bound \(4(\sin{x\over 2})^2\) by \(x^2\) which is larger for \(0< x< \pi\).
