The concept of quantum computer is used as a mathematical tool to describe the relations which may exist between some physical processes and some methods and techniques of combinatorics. After a short background on quantum information processing (i.e. quantum information, quantum computation, quantum error correction), the authors introduce the notion of \(t\)-error protecting jump code. Then they discuss the bounds on the parameters of jump codes and deal successively with block designs and jump codes, finite geometries and jump codes, and isodual codes and jump codes.
