This paper is devoted to the study of various properties related to the Ginzburg-Landau energy with magnetic field. The main result establishes that for fields close enough to the first critical field, minimizers of the Ginzburg-Landau functional have a number of vortices bounded independently from the Ginzburg-Landau parameter. This result shows that locally minimizing solutions of the Ginzburg-Landau equation are actually global minimizers. The proofs are based on elliptic estimates and use adequate variational methods.
