The author constructs a quasi-Hopf quantized universal enveloping algebra from a quadruple \((C, w, S, A)\), where \(C\) is a complex curve, \(w\) a rational differential on \(C\), \(S\) a finite set of points on \(C\) containing all zeros and poles of \(w\), and \(A\) is a semisimple Lie algebra. The classical limit of this quasi-Hopf algebra is a Manin pair which was constructed from the quadruple by \textit{V. G. Drinfeld} [Leningr. Math. J. 1, 1419--1457 (1990; Zbl 0718.16033)]. Special cases of these quasi-Hopf algebras include Yangians and quantized universal enveloping algebras of affine Kac-Moody Lie algebras. The main new ingredient of the construction is a higher genus analogue of the quantized Serre relations. The crucial step is the construction of the coefficients of these relations, which are rational functions on powers of \(C\). Using these relations, a flat deformation of a nilpotent subalgebra is constructed, and then a generalized quantum double construction gives the whole quasi-Hopf algebra.
