The authors prove estimates for the first nonnegative eigenvalue of the Dirac operator on manifolds with \(SO(k+1)\)-symmetry. The main result is an estimate for eigenvalues of warped products \(M=B\times_f S^k\). An explicit lower estimate for the Dirac eigenvalues is obtained. It is proven that in this case the spectrum of the Dirac operator is symmetric and that \(D\) is invertible. The key idea is a decomposition of the spinors into eigenspinors with respect to the Dirac operator on \(S^k\). Many results also extend to the case when the base \(B\) has a boundary and when the warping function \(f\) satisfies at the boundary \(f=0\) and \(f'(0)=1\). This case arises as fixed point set of the \(SO(k+1)\)-action.
