The paper deals with the properties of solutions of first order equations: \[ Lw=Aw+B\overline w, \tag{1} \] where \(w\) is a locally integrable function, \(A\) and \(B\) are bounded measurable functions and \(L\) is a planar complex vector field of class \(C^{1+r}\), \(0<r<1\). When \(L=\frac{\partial}{\partial \overline z}\), (1) defines the so-called pseudoanalytic functions (L. Bers) or generalizated analytic functions (I. Vekua), which share many properties with holomorphic functions of one variable due to the similarity principle: every continuous pseudoanalytic function has, locally, the form \(w=\exp^gh\) for some holomorphic \(h\) and Hölder continuous \(g\). The principle holds true for any elliptic \(L\). The authors are interested in nonelliptic vector fields and they show that a week form of the similarity principle holds for all locally solvable vector fields, i.e., those characterized by the Nirenberg-Treves condition \((\mathcal {P})\).
