The space \(\mathcal R\) of lattices in \(\mathbb R^n\) modulo homotheties, is in bijection with \(\text{SL}(n,\mathbb Z)\backslash \text{SL}(n, \mathbb R)\). Set \(\mathcal S=\mathcal R/ \text{SO}(n)\). One defines Hecke operators on \(\mathcal R\) and considers them on \(\mathcal S\). In the article the authors prove rigidity results for mappings on \(\mathcal S\) and \(\mathcal R\) which commute with Hecke operators (and satisfy additional conditions regarding the topology and the measure). They prove that such mappings must belong to a family of simple natural mappings (sometimes only the identity can be such a mapping).
