    Let \(\Omega\) be an open set in \(\mathbb R^N ,\) \(v\) and \(u\) be suitable real functions defined in \(\Omega.\) This paper deals with new applications of the relative rearrangement of \(v\) with respect to \(u,\) in \(\Omega _* =(0,| \Omega | ).\) Let \(V\) be a subset of \(\bigcup _{1 \leq p \leq \infty } W^{1,p} (\Omega )\) which satisfies the Poincaré-Sobolev pointwise inequalities for the relative rearrangement. The author obtains several precise estimates and conditions for \(V\) to be embedded in \(L^{\infty} (\Omega),\) or to be a set of functions integrable in an Orlicz space. Let \(M(\Omega) \) be the set of bounded Radon measures on \(\Omega \). In the last part of the paper, he considers nonlinear parabolic systems of the form: \[ \partial _t u - \text{div}(\widehat a (x, \nabla u)) = \mu, \quad \text{in }\mathcal D'((0,T) \times \Omega) , \qquad u(0)= u_0,\tag{1} \] where \(\hat a : \Omega \times \mathbb R^N \to \mathbb R^N \) is a Carathéodory map, \(u_o \in M(\Omega) \) and \(\mu \in L^1 (0,T;M(\Omega)) .\) He investigates conditions on \(\widehat a , \mu, u_o \) which guarantee the existence and the uniqueness of the solution \(u\) of \((1),\) in the grand Lebesgue- Sobolev space \(L^{(N)}(0,T;W_o ^{(1, N) }(\Omega)),\) with an additional regularity result for \(\partial _t u.\) We point out that the definitions of relative rearrangement, Poincaré -Sobolev pointwise inequalities, grand Lebesgue-Sobolev spaces are clearly recalled in the paper.
