Qualitatively stable finite difference schemes for advection--reaction equations. (Q1408393)

The paper is concerned with the numerical approximation of 2D advection-reaction equations \[ \partial_t u + { a}\cdot \nabla u = r(u) \] on the basis of so-called Mickens' rules [\textit{R. E. Mickens}, J. Sound Vibration 207, No. 3, 426--428 (1997)], using ideas previously developed by the first two authors [\textit{R. Anguelov} and \textit{J. M.-S. Lubuma}, Numer. Methods Partial Differ. Equations 17, No. 5, 518--543 (2001; Zbl 0988.65055)]. Hyperbolic reaction terms as well as a cubic one are investigated.
