    This is a well written paper on approximate controllability and homogenization for a semilinear elliptic equation. The control is distributed in a relatively compact subdomain \(\omega\) and the observation region \(S\) is either a subset of codimension 1 nonintersecting the control zone \(\omega\) in the case of \(L^2\)-approximate controllability, or is an open set compactly contained in \(\omega\) in the case of \(H^1\)-approximate controllability. Further, the principal term of the state equation (given by a second order elliptic boundary-value problem) as well as the cost functional (given by a Dirichlet type integral on \(S\) of the state function) has rapidly oscillating coefficients. Schauder's fixed point theorem is used in order to find an approximate control of minimum norm, thanks to the dual formulation of the problem. Finally, the asymptotic behavior is studied as the rapidly oscillating coefficients H-converge.
