The authors investigate multimaps \(F:X \to X\) associated with a proper acyclic map \(t:Y \to X\) and a continuous map \(r:Y \to Z\). They call such a multimap a Vietoris multimap, these maps being a generalization of single-valued Vietoris maps. Their purpose is to define a topological degree for a class of Vietoris maps defined on an open subset \(U\) of an infinite-dimensional Banach space \(E\) to \(E\). Therefore they introduce a class of multimaps called \(2\)-completely fundamentally restrictible Vietoris multimaps. They also treat noncompact multimaps. The authors obtain natural generalizations of fixed point theorems for their class of multimaps.
