Consider the finite-dimensional system \(\dot{x}(t) = A x(t) + B u(t) + D z(t)\), \(y(t) = C x(t)\), and let \(T_m(s)\) be a given stable rational transfer function. The simultaneous model matching and disturbance rejection problem with stability is to find a feedback control law of the form \(u(t) = Fx(t) + Gv(t) + H z(t)\) such that \(C(sI-A-BF)^{-1}\left[ BG(D+BH) \right] = \left[ T_m(s) 0\right]\) and \(A+BF\) has only stable eigenvalues. The authors provide two sets of equivalent conditions for the solvability of this problem. The first set is formulated using transfer functions associated to the original system, whereas the conditions in the second set use the (in)finite zero structure of these transfer functions.
