An asymptotic property of gap series. II (Q1410417)

[For part I see ibid. 97, 257-264 (2002; Zbl 1017.60034).] Let \(f\) be periodic and square integrable on the real axis. \textit{S. Takahashi} [Sci. Rep. Kanazawa Univ. 33, 27-36 (1988; Zbl 0671.60022)] obtained an upper bound estimate in the law of the iterated logarithm for \(\sum f(n_k \omega)\), where \(n_{k+1}/n_k \geq 1+ c k^{-\alpha}\) and \(\alpha < 1/2\). The authors obtain such a bound when \(\alpha \geq 1/2\) under additional hypotheses on \(\{n_k \}\). As application, they prove a law of the iterated logarithm when \(\{ n_k \}\) is the increasing arrangement of relatively prime integers.
