A field \(K\) is called ample if each function field \(F/K\) of one variable with a prime divisor of degree 1 has infinitely many such divisors. \textit{J.-L. Colliot-Thélène} [Ann. Math. (2) 151, 359--373 (2000; Zbl 0990.12003)] proved that any perfect field \(K\) such that Gal\((K)\) is a pro-\(p\)-group for some prime number \(p\) is ample. In this nice paper the author proves that the restriction on \(K\) to be perfect in the above result of J.-L. Colliot-Thélène can be dropped, that is, if for some prime number \(p\) the Galois group Gal\((K)\) is a pro-\(p\)-group, then \(K\) is ample. The proof is based on the Riemann-Roch theorem.
