The author discusses numerical integration methods for the solution of the governing equations of flexible multibody systems. A family of Runge-Kutta-Rosenbrock methods are then developed having varying degrees of accuracy. Illustrative applications are given for a series of problems. The paper could be of use to theoreticians concerned with governing equation development; to writers of software for multibody dynamics codes; and to engineers working with specific problems.
