Some mountain-pass solutions for small diffusion (Q1413612)

The author considers mountain-pass solutions of \[ -\varepsilon^2\Delta u= f(u)\quad\text{in }\Omega,\qquad u= 0\quad\text{on }\partial\Omega \] and improves results of Ni, Takagi and Wei on the shape of these solutions and the location of their maxima provided that \(\Omega\) is a smooth, bounded domain in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) with \(n\geq 3\). Here \(\varepsilon\) is assumed to be sufficiently small and \(f\) has to satisfy certain technical conditions.
