There exists an extensive literature devoted to the iterative solution of nonlinear equations of the form (1) \(Tx=f \) and (2) \(x+Tx=f\) where \(T:X\rightarrow X\) is a certain accretive type operator, see for example the recent reviewer's monograph [\textit{V. Berinde}, ``Iterative approximation of fixed points'', Baia Mare (2002; Zbl 1036.47037)]. Alternatively, several classes of pseudocontractive type operators have been studied in connection with the problem of approximating their fixed points by means of various iterative methods. The present paper is devoted to the iterative approximation of solutions to equations (1) and (2) in the case when \(X\) is an arbitrary Banach space and \(T\) is a uniformly continuous \(\Phi \)-strongly accretive operator. The authors also obtain results regarding the iterative approximation of fixed points for the case when \(T\) is a uniformly continuous \(\Phi \)-strongly pseudocontractive operator, by means of Ishikawa and Mann iterative methods with errors. The obtained convergence theorems are significant improvements of many related results.
